The Senior Experience

More than a timetable - a community, a journey and a season to grow.

Discover. Connect. Grow.

From music and drama to mountain biking, debating, creative writing workshops, and service clubs - there is something for everyone at Parklands. There are plenty of opportunities that shape who students become. Beyond academic learning, students build friendships, discover passions, and grow in confidence through shared experiences.

Alongside many subject specific excursions, incursion and camps, view our Secondary Clubs and Tutorials guide each offering rich opportunities to grow, serve, and shine. Alongside these, students enjoy subject-specific excursions, incursions, and camps throughout the year.

Leadership That Matters

Year 11 Leadership Camp: Emu Gully, Helidon

A significant milestone for every Year 11 student. Leadership Camp is a significant milestone that fosters unity, resilience, and servant-hearted leadership because true leadership is about character, not position.

Held in Term 3, the camp also marks the meaningful handover from outgoing Year 12 Captains, sending students into their final year grounded, connected, and ready to lead with purpose.

Student Leadership - Titles optional. Character essential.

Every Year 12 student is a leader. At Parklands, leadership is not reserved for those who wear a badge or hold a title, it is lived out in the quiet moments, the kind words, the willingness to include, encourage, and show up for others. Whether stepping up on the oval, mentoring a younger student, or simply being someone others want to follow - every senior is required to take the opportunities to shape the culture of our school for good and for God.

We believe God has placed gifts, courage, and influence in every one of our seniors and our invitation is simply this: live it out.

"Press on towards the goal." Philippians 3:14

    Student Leadership Elect

Student leadership is a calling, not a status. Our student leaders are drawn from the Year 11 cohort, elected by their peers and staff, and commissioned to shepherd and serve their community with integrity and Christ-like humility. Each Year 12 leadership group prayerfully chooses a word for the year - a shared focus that inspires the whole school to press forward and grow deeper.(Add images of Year 12 student leaders in action – perhaps one from Flourish conference and speaking at assembly /chapel etc)

Year 12 Student Leadership: Compass Conference, Canberra

Each year, our Year 12 Student Leadership team attends the five-day Compass Christian Schools Conference in Canberra - a national gathering of student leaders from Christian schools across Australia. Through worship, keynote sessions, and workshops, students deepen their faith, grow in leadership, and connect biblical truth to the world ahead. Compass is more than a conference; it is a shaping experience.

    Serving with Purpose

Through a range of service opportunities, students may actively contribute to both their school and their local community. These are just a few examples:

    • Give Back Program: Sustainability and environmental initiatives to give back to the College
    • Rosies: Supporting those who are vulnerable, some experiencing homelessness
    • Nursing Home Visits: Building connection across generations
    • Neighbour in Need: Practical local community support
    • Food Bank Initiatives: Supporting families in need
    • The Ponytail Project & The world’s Greatest Shave: Raising awareness and funds
    • 40 Hour Famine: Global compassion in action.

    Prepared for Life

At Parklands, success is measured not just by results, but by the young people our students become. Our graduates leave equipped with far more than academic achievement; they leave ready for life in every sense.

    Students graduate with:

    • Confidence: a settled sense of who they are and what they are capable of
    • Character: integrity, resilience, and the courage to do what is right
    • Faith: a personal faith, or an understanding and appreciation for the Christian faith, and the values it shapes in how we live and love others
    • Readiness for their future: the skills, qualifications, and purpose-filled vision to step boldly into the next chapter God has prepared for them.
