Secondary Sport
Welcome to Secondary Sport
Welcome to Secondary Sport at Parklands Christian College, where students are challenged to grow in skill, confidence and character through purposeful participation.
We believe sport is a valuable avenue for both healthy competition and the development of lifelong habits to support health and wellbeing. Our program offers a balanced approach, providing opportunities to engage in traditional sports with competitive pathways, alongside recreational options that encourage broad participation and sustained physical activity.
As students explore their interests and discover more about themselves, they are encouraged to pursue excellence with Christlikeness, positive attitude and respect in every environment.
Carnival Sports
Our Secondary Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics Carnivals are significant moments in the sporting year, uniting students in participation, perseverance and House spirit. Our primary focus is broad involvement, encouraging every student to contribute to their House and engage fully in the experience.
At the same time, these carnivals provide opportunities for students to explore competitive pathways, with progression available to District, Regional, State and Christian Schools competitions. Throughout each event, students are encouraged to give their best effort and to compete with humility and a positive attitude.
Representative Sports
Our secondary representative sport program provides students with diverse opportunities to compete across a range of pathways and competitions.
Students participate in Christian Schools competitions in futsal, netball, touch football, basketball, volleyball and football (soccer) throughout the year, along with statewide gala day events.
As part of the Southern Scorpions District, eligible students may trial within the Queensland Representative School Sport pathway, with opportunities to progress to Regional and State teams. In addition, our Yarrabilba touch teams provide further opportunities for students to engage in competitive level sport within the local community sport structure. These experiences allow students to challenge themselves, refine their skills and represent our College in competitive sporting environments.
Recreational Sports
Our recreational sport program provides Years 7 to 12 with dedicated afternoon sport classes, offering students the opportunity to engage in a wide range of sports and physical activities. These sessions create space for both training and exploration, with some students preparing for upcoming competitions while others may be on the track, mountain bike riding, rock climbing, engaging in fitness-based activities or participating in alternative team sports. Recreational Sport allows students to experience physical activity in varied formats, encouraging participation, enjoyment and the development of lifelong healthy habits.
