Primary Sport
Welcome to Primary Sport
Welcome to Primary Sport at Parklands Christian College, where we lay strong foundations for a lifelong love of sport.
In the Primary years, our focus is on participation, skill development and creating positive experiences that build confidence and joy in being active.
We create opportunities for students to explore their interests in sport, discover new passions and grow through both success and challenge.
Grounded in our Christian ethos, we encourage Christlikeness, excellence in effort and attitude, and respect in every setting. As Matthew 7 reminds us, a house built on solid rock stands firm, and in Primary Sport we are committed to building those foundations well.
Carnival Sports
Our Cross Country, Athletics and Swimming House Carnivals are key moments in the Primary sporting calendar, bringing our community together in celebration of participation, effort and House spirit. Held throughout the year, these events see students proudly represent their Houses, Miriam, Joshua, Samuel and Deborah, as they challenge themselves and grow in confidence through healthy competition.
For students who perform strongly, opportunities exist to progress to District, Regional and State representation, as well as represent the College in the Christian school’s competitions. Every student is encouraged to contribute with excellence in effort, positive attitude and respect.
Representative Opportunities
Representative sport provides students in Years 4 to 6 with opportunities to extend their abilities and represent the College in a range of competitive settings.
Students compete in Christian Schools competitions across Cross Country, Athletics and Swimming, along with team sports including football (soccer), basketball, touch football and netball throughout the year.
As members of the Southern Scorpions District, students aged nine years and above who are competing at club level or higher may also trial within the Queensland representative school sport pathway.
These experiences provide students with meaningful opportunities to challenge themselves, refine their skills, and continue developing through high-quality competition.
LAPSS Competition
Our Year 5 and 6 students compete in the Primary LAPSS Competition across Terms 1 to 3, with every student participating against Kings Christian College and Bethania Lutheran School on Friday afternoons.
This participation focused competition allows students to explore a range of sports while developing skills, confidence and game understanding in a supportive environment. Through each experience, students build teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship, learning to compete with integrity and respect.
Parents are warmly invited to attend and support their children when matches are held onsite at Parklands.
