Beyond the Classroom

Time to engage and explore

At Parklands Christian College, we value the benefits of learning beyond the classroom and actively encourage students to step outside, explore, and engage with the natural world around them.

Time spent in these environments helps build resilience, strengthens problem-solving skills, and supports overall wellbeing—all within a setting that is safe, supportive, and genuinely enjoyable.

Our camp program has been thoughtfully developed to give every student the opportunity to take part in off-campus experiences.

Delivered in partnership with trusted providers and guided by our experienced staff, these programs include activities such as teamwork activities, abseiling, high ropes courses, nature challenges, and archery, all with the goal of personal character growth.

Middle School Camps

The camp program at Parklands seeks to develop our students in a variety of characteristics through challenge centred activities and Christ-centred devotions. Students work and grow together through their shared experience.

Emu Gully: Term 3
Year 7 Camp focusses on:

Teamwork - Courage - Mateship

First camp in Middle School allows students to challenge themselves in the outdoors under a guided program from the team at Emu Gully Adventures. Students learn resilience and perseverance through many group activities as they enjoy two nights in tents. All activities require teamwork, right down to meal preparations. Students quite literally 'go through the mud together' as they grow in their understanding of their own strengths and learn that God created them to be courageous in all things.

Mt Tamborine: Term 2
Year 8 Camp focusses on:

Team support - Personal Challenge - Goal Setting

Year 8 camp takes students to the beautiful Mt Tamborine where they experience a wide variety of challenges. Through activities such as Archery, the Giant Swing, Bush Tucker cooking and the mighty Leap of Faith, students are encouraged to realise that we don't do life by ourselves - we are designed to encourage one another and walk together. Night sessions are personal reflection times as students are challenged to evaluate what Christianity really means to them.

PCYC Bornhoffen: Term 1
Somerset Dam: Term 3
Year 9 Camp focusses on:

Individual Challenge - Personal Reflection - Self Discovery

The two camps in year 9 are vital aspects of the Rite Journey program, allowing students to personally explore their limits through reflection and challenge. Two nights at Bornhoffen are used to introduce the program as students learn what is involved and participate in activities such as Abseiling, Creek Walking and a High Ropes course. Evening sessions inspire students to commit to the journey of the coming year. Challenge Camp is in term three. Students spend three nights in a single man tent undertaking a series of challenges based on personal reflection and evaluation. Through the problem-solving activities, to the Solo Experience, students are pushed to understand how much God loves them and who God is calling them to be.
