Enrolments FAQ

Frequently asked questions answered.

Choosing the right school is a significant journey for every family, and we are delighted that you are considering Parklands Christian College. Our community is built on a foundation of faith, where our Christian worldview is woven into every aspect of campus life.

We seek to partner with families who share our mission and values, creating a nurturing environment where every student can flourish. Below, you will find answers to our most frequently asked questions to help guide you through our enrolment process.

Do you have to be a Christian to attend?

We are a diverse and inclusive community that warmly welcomes families from all backgrounds. What is most important to us is a shared commitment to the values that make Parklands unique.

We do ask that all families who join us align with our Mission, Values, and Statement of Faith. Our Christian worldview is woven into the very fabric of College life—from the way we care for one another to how we explore the world in the classroom. At Parklands, our core values guide everything we do:

  • CHRISTLIKENESS: We aim to imitate Jesus and trust God to transform our hearts and minds to become more like Him.
  • LEARNING: We seek to understand the world to discover its Creator and become equipped to contribute to His creation.
  • EXCELLENCE: We endeavour always to do our personal best with unselfish dedication, help others to do the same, and trust God to complete our efforts.
  • ATTITUDE: We grow by choosing to walk the journey of life together, connected through care, acceptance, compassion and our hope in God.
  • RESPECT: We reflect the love and forgiveness that God offers to us in the way we value others and our world.
What are your main intake years?

Our primary intake years are Prep and Year 7. Because of the high demand for these year levels, we formally begin our enrolment and interview process 12 months before entry. We encourage families to apply as early as possible to ensure they are well-positioned when the intake process commences.

Are other year levels available? While Prep and Year 7 are our largest intakes, we do accept applications for all other year levels. For these years, positions only become available when a current family vacates their place. All applications are held in our enrolment waiting pool and are carefully reviewed as vacancies arise.

When should I apply?

The earlier you apply, the better! We are always encouraged by the high volume of interest in our community, but it does mean that many year levels reach capacity quickly.

For Prep and Year 7: While we formally begin the enrolment intake and interview process 12 months before entry, we strongly recommend submitting your application as soon as you consider Parklands. Due to high demand, our waiting pools often fill years in advance; applying early ensures your child is best positioned when the intake process begins.

For all other Year Levels: Applications for all other year levels are placed directly into our enrolment waiting pool. As these classes are typically at capacity, positions only become available when a current family vacates their place. We review the waiting pool and consider applicants for these opportunities only as vacancies arise.

Please note that while we warmly welcome all interest, the submission of an application does not guarantee a place. Offers are made as positions become available and involve a review of academic reports and an enrolment interview to ensure alignment with our mission, Christian ethos and values. We are here to help you through every step of this journey!

How does the waiting pool work?

Because many of our year levels are at capacity, enrolment opportunities often arise unexpectedly. When a spot opens, we carefully review our waiting pool to identify the most suitable applicant for that specific opportunity. As a Christian school, enrolment priority is given to families who support the College’s Christian ethos and values. Other factors, such as sibling connections, Alumni, staff, date of application, cohort balance, academic and behavioural history are also considered.

What if my child does not receive an offer?

We understand it can be disappointing if a place is not immediately available. If your child does not receive an offer during our initial intake period, your application will remain in our waiting pool. As positions can become available unexpectedly, we continue to review our waiting pool and make further offers as vacancies arise. You are always welcome to contact our Registrar to defer your application to a future year level or remain in the current waiting pool.

Do siblings need a separate application?

Yes, we require a separate application for every child in your family. This ensures our Enrolment Team has all the necessary information to understand each child's unique needs, interests, and learning journey. Please note that the standard non-refundable application fee applies to each individual child.

Can I tour the school?

We would love to welcome you to our campus. To give you a genuine feel for our community, we offer Small-Group Registrar Tours throughout the year. These intimate sessions are the perfect way to see our classrooms in action, explore our facilities, and ask any questions you may have in a warm, conversational setting.

What do school fees cover?

Our fees are designed to be all-inclusive to help our families plan ahead. Your total annual fee covers:

  • Tuition: The core cost of our teaching and learning program.
  • Ancillaries: Most extracurricular activities, curriculum-based camps, excursions and incursions.
  • Booklists: Most stationery and booklist items (dependent on year level).
  • IT Levy: (Years 5–12) Covers our school-managed device program.
  • Exclusions: International missions, instrumental music tuition, and optional external certificate courses, YDP fees and competitive sport competitions.
Does my child need to bring their own device?

No—we’ve got technology covered. To ensure a safe and seamless learning environment, the College provides and manages all necessary devices:

  • Prep to Year 4: Access to College-owned devices within the classroom.
  • Years 5 and 6: A College-managed iPad.
  • Secondary (Years 7–12): A College-managed MacBook. Our IT team manages all software and support, with the cost included in the IT Levy.
Where can I find uniform information?

Our uniform is a visible symbol of our community. We want our students to wear it with pride, and we expect all families to support and adhere to our [Uniform Policy]. Our on-campus Uniform Shop (24 Hillcrest Rd) is here to help with fittings. Being part of the Parklands family also includes a commitment to our grooming standards for hair, jewellery, and accessories.

Does the College have its own buses?

Parklands does not operate a private bus service; however, our campus is well-serviced by local providers and Translink school routes. We recommend using the [Translink Journey Planner] or contacting providers directly to find the best route:

Does Parklands accept International Students?

Currently, Parklands Christian College is not registered to facilitate international student enrolments. This includes both long-term placements and short-term study tours. All applicants must be Australian citizens, permanent residents, or hold an appropriate domestic visa that allows for local enrolment.
